December 14th

I have a problem.
It's big and I don't understand why this is happening.
The problem is that sometimes the object I want to move and colour in doesn't work.
So when there is a white circle, and I want to make a blue face on it, it doesn't allow me to paint over it.
When ever that happens, I just copy the previous frame and stuff... but it's requires a lot of mouse clicks.

Today, I worked on my cat movement.
It's fun to work with! Also, I realized that I don't need my tablet to draw. Drawing with the mouse isn't that hard to do!:)

I focused on the cat's movements and positions.

so as you can see, a cat has many movements.

my goal is go make a good animation that includes all the movements above : >

Also, today was the best day ever!!!
Niv was quite and the class room felt very peaceful and concentrated
I think Niv should take a test every class.
It's so peaceful without him♥

December 12th

I did my mid quarter report and worked on my new project called 'Pat on a cat'
I started it over the weekend. So it has the basic figures and I know what the story line is going to be.
This project is going to  focus only on the movement of the cat and the person.
I am trying to make the leg look it's walking. Real walking. like this

I know I can make this movements with the bone tool but I don't understand exactly how the damn bone tool works. So I experimented for a while trying to figure out.. and I think I did..

Um. also, I have Niv in my math class and I am terrified because I know he is going to pick on me today.
I am planning to give a rose on valentines day for him.
hahahahha
I hope sending him a rose and a fake love letter will make him hate me less.
Ugh.oh Niv.
Oh, did you know, there is a bible study guide called

I know. I must SHOW THIS TO HIM!!!

this just makes more sense as you scroll down the image page on google when you type 'niv'

hahahahahhahhahahhahhahahahhahhahahhahahh ( I found in google)

Mid Quarter report

Mid Quarter December 2010Please answer the questions fully in the spaces below.
NameYejun Lee
ModuleFlash CS5
Summarize what you have achieved in the first half of this quarter.I learned the basic of the flash tools and learned how to make animation by flash.

Please indicate any days that you know you will be missing between now and the end of the course.
I never ever missed a class and never will.
Describe what you expect to achieve by the end of the module? How much material will you have covered? What projects will you completed?
I am expecting to have a complete 2minute animation before the winter vacation.
Your teacher will be entering a grade-in-progress in PowerSchool for mid-quarter. He will be considering your performance in terms of theassessment guidelines. At this stage he will be asking about the extent to which the statements below apply to your performance in the course.Comment below if you feel there has been a change since mid-semester.
Typically this student makes effective use of class time by increasing his/her competence and confidence using software that he/she has chosen.
Are you using your time effectively? Are you learning each time you come to class? Are you becoming more competent and confident?
inadequate adequate good outstanding
(highlight and comment)

I used the online resource to find new tools and ideas.

He/she attends all class sessions, coming and leaving on time, making sure to make up missing time by working during free periods or at home.
Have you missed class this quarter? How many times? What have you done to make up lost time?
inadequate adequate good outstanding
(highlight and comment)

Okay, I have been late only once.

His/her oral communication during class is focused on the learning tasks that he/she is engaged in.
Are your conversations in class focused on your learning tasks?
inadequate adequate good outstanding
(highlight and comment)
I don't talk to others like Niv and Liam does. I don't talk about basketball. I talk to Segev about flash.

His/her written communication (logs, e-mails, and reports) are done according to deadlines and contain enough information for the teacher to understand what he/she is doing, what kinds of problems he/she is facing and how he/she feels about his/her learning experiences.
Are you consistently doing your blogs?
How does your BLog keeping compare to the first half of the quarter? Are you providing more details of your learning? Do you take care to express yourself clearly and use conventional grammar and spelling? Are you using images, videos, links to illustrate the work that you are doing? Are you satisfied that your blog reflects the
inadequate adequate good outstanding
(highlight and comment)

I have never been late with my blog posting. I always wrote it in that day and I try hard to write interestingly as possible. Unlike my Tralala blog, it's quite hard to write humorous..

During class he/she remains focused on the task at hand and generally respects the integrity of the learning environment for all students.
Do you stay on task throughout the block? Do you effectively resist temptations to use the computer for unrelated activities (other homework, e-mail, facebook, youtube, sports results, music etc.)? Do you resist temptations to take unnecessary breaks, arrive late, leave early? Are all your interactions with other students focused on the task at hand?
inadequate adequate good outstanding
(highlight and comment)

YES. I REALLY DO RESPECT others unlike Niv. Unlike Niv, I don't talk to others and do 'pep talks'
I don't talk about basketball and make others piss off by my voice, I don't walk around randomly for 20minutes outside during class, I don't go to the bathroom for hours unlike Niv. So compared to Niv, I am a white angel. I have no wrong doings what so ever.

He/she has positive attitudes towards acquiring technology skills, and makes a conscious effort to acquire new skills and apply them in meaningful ways.
Are you acquiring new skills each class? Are you effectively documenting these in your blog? Have you found ways to apply your skills beyond classroom exercises?
inadequate adequate good outstanding
(highlight and comment)

Yes I make effort to acquire new skills. But I am not very good at applying them in real life..I just like adding things to my knowledge.

He/she is an independent learner, who tries to solve problems by himself/herself, but finds effective ways to overcome problems using a variety of other resources.
Have your become more independent as a learner? What resources are you using to learn effectively?
inadequate adequate good outstanding
(highlight and comment)

Yeah.. I think I am a independent learner. I don't wait for the teacher to come and help me..I usually solve byself or by Segev's help.

He/she is respectful of all members of this learning community and his/her behavior is in compliance with all school policies, in particular the AUP (Appropriate Use Policy) and Academic Honesty Policy.
Are you respectful, appropriate, honest? Do you make sure that your behavior does not interfere with the learning of others to by distracting them from their work?
inadequate adequate good outstanding
(highlight and comment)

Yes I act appropriate, respectful and honest. I am sure me working doesn't interfere others.

Your grade will take into account your performance in the above areas and also..
The amount of documented learning time that you have spent in and out of class.

The amount and/or depth of material that you have covered

What is your grade-in-progress (see PowerSchool)?

Typically if the grade is in the 80s your overall performance has been good. If your grade is in the 70s your performance has been adequate.

How would you describe your overall performance at this point? Is your assessment in-line with the assessment of your instructor?
92
I am fine with my grade. It shows how I am working.
Is there any other information that you would like to provide your teacher to help decide on your grade-in-progress?I don't really have anything to say. I just want to say that Liam isn't really the problem in our class. Niv is.. (Just to clarify)
Also, my goal grade is 100 for this class. I dont know how I am going to achieve but if I continue with my project and finish it by the semester, I guess I will get what I want.

December 8th

I was 15 minutes late to class today T-T I am sorry
I don't really have a reason.. I forgot about the time because I was with mrs. Sagiv...
So yeah. that's my story.

I don't really have much to write. I mean I just continued doing my work and found out this tool called the pattern tool. It makes patterns by itself!

December 6th

So...I am a bit confused about my story..
I don't know what I am confused about.
I just don't feel enthusiastic any more!
But don't worry. I will finish the story by this week

I tried to use this new tool called 'Fish Bone'

Although the tutorial is for CS4, I figured out that it doesn't matter much.
I just can't wait until my story is overrr

About my grade

Hi Mr. Daly! I really don't understand something.
Why did I get a 86?
I thought we decided to give me a 92...
If there is a big reason why, please comment!! because I am dying to know how I can improve..
or are you continuing with your plan of giving me one point higher every time?

:P

December 2nd

I deleted more than two third of the flash I made because I didn't like my work
To get inspired, I searched on youtube to see what a good flash looks like.
This video was the answer.
As you can see, this is animation.

After watching this, I decided to totally change the story line.
I will be focusing on Jame's walk and movements only.

here is an okay link I found. I learned this new tool called an onion skin. It shows you the preview of your animations.

November 30th

I drew lots today!
I drew the scene where James wakes up late, James running and the girl walking with a lion

So far, the whole story is 20seconds!
It's so weird... because it's so short :<

I will have to colour the pictures and make them look more 'professional' by making the movements more smoothly.

Ugh but I still have a problem
The whole video looks more like a powerpoint of images.. than 'animation'
Anyway, what ever it looks like, I must finish the story.
Must.
MUST

P.S.
Niv was very quite today
Bery pleased with him today
I hope he stays like that all year!

November 28th

I am still working on my story. Today, instead of making more frames, I wrote the script of the story and edited the seconds of the frames. I didn't draw anything today because I forgot my tablet : <
This is the video after I edited

I only changed the timing of each seconds. Also, I learned that F5 adds frames! My life is so easier now
I also learned other new shortcuts! from http://kb2.adobe.com/cps/121/tn_12105.html

Anyway, Niv is so. annoying.

I bet his DNA is made of PURE ANNOYANCE
I just can't stand him.
I consider myself as a very calm person and tries to never like get angry. But it's so just
ANNOYING!!!!
UGHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH
Mr Daly how do you stand him during class?
If I was you, I would give him 65 every grade. I would also just ignore him during class and never go near him to help like my dad does to me and mum.
I really believe those students should come to Korea and learn some etiquette.
or read this book

How to Deal with Annoying People: What to Do When You Can't Avoid Them

****Script****
My name is James. I have 5 sisters. As you can see, they are all busy doing all their 'businesses' which are talking on phones, singing, watching reality shows, and checking the new hair styles out.

November 22nd

I worked on my story the whole class.
I am glad that I have now something to work on!
I changed the story plot a bit. First, I made Jane to James. He has 5 sisters and is the only boy in the family.
I managed to do a lot! I am very proud hahah
as you can see, I tried to put effort into small details like the faces of the people and the background and all.
After thinking, I am going to put voice in. I guess I will do that after I finish with the movie clip!
um I am going to add a narrator or something to make the story flow. I decided to do the voice because it's really painful to put speak bubbles for every scene.
But the voice thingy isn't in my interests right now because that's far away.

As you can see, the last scene is when the alarm clock rings!

I am starting to think I am going to make the video 5minutes.. so far I have 17 seconds! ahhh
omg
I change it to 3 minutes.

November 18th

This video is really a collage of what I know about flash.
1. Motion Tween
2. changing colors of the brush
3. Making text write one by one
4. making objects move without me having to make a frame movement one by one
5. how to make the boundaries and the color inside the object differ
__________________________________________________________
I am going to make a story and an animation like Segev's!
I don't exactly know how my story is going to look like so I am brain storming now
When I make a story, I am going to consider 3 things
1. Easy to draw
2. not too many movements

It will be a story about Jane. She will wake up late for school. She runs to school.
The story will be about things she finds on her way to school
1. She sees a girl walk with a lion
2. Sees a man selling an icecream
3. Helps a kid go across the road
4. arrives at school and realizes that it's thanksgiving holiday

November 16th

My first project is going to be this: making my logo glow
http://active.tutsplus.com/tutorials/effects/make-your-flash-logo-bling-with-alpha-gradient-masking/

This ended up horribly. First, this 'step by step' isn't technically 'step by step' for beginners.
I tried this 10times and read the procedure I was stuck on at least 10 times. I do not understand.

I hate. the. internet.
I hate it so much.

There are these types of advertising sites that has a title of  'cs3 flash tutorials' and has bunch of porn links.
UGH
It's so ANNOYING.
I HATE THE INTERNET.
nothing works and google seriously needs to start deleting sites and blogs that has trash informations.
I am dead serious. I recently saw a video how if you weigh the information online, it will be 50g. And 50g is A LOT.
that is the video I saw.

I hope one day in the future, you won't have to click hundreds of links to find the right source.
Btw, I am not a bad researcher. I know all those 'tricks' for searching up online. You can put ""s on words or quote, write - for things you dont want and stuff. But there just are tooo ooooo many information online to do it perfectly.

November 14th

This is the video I used for dynamic path!
It's cool because you can move objects by making a path by drawing it.
So basically, you draw a path by a pencil or brush tool. You then place the ball at the beginning of the line or at the end of the line.
I also learned that when you press ctrl+enter, you get this pop up window and your animation runs.
I would like to just say that because there are too many sites in the internet, I find it terribly hard to find the right source for me.

I also am sorry how I don't have really a project I am working on right now. I think I will play while doing the project. It's just annoying how I still havn't really found a reliable source. Especially when I go to youtube for video tutorials, I find these videos but I don't understand exactly how they are doing it.

To be honest, I don't really learn much in this class. I just don't understand this system of
'you are in charge of what you do and you will learn skills by the internet'

When I learned photoshop, swish-max, powerpoint in Korea, the teachers gave us a hand-out made by themselves; meaning that they know 100% about this software.
And I don't even feel like I am learning a new thing every class.
It's just.. not my way of learning.
And I don't think this helps others either in my class because I very often see Garrett watching videos of experts' work of animation made by Blender. He hardly knows any 'thing' about the software.

I think it's about time we get textbooks or handouts and make students do their project based on the book. It's just terrible to make students learn by the internet. You don't know how tempting facebook and other sites are..

November 9th

I finally got to know about making images move without me having to move it by hand

November 7th

Segev helped me very much! and I enjoyed making it
I am going to bring my tablet next class so it would be much easier to draw!

This video was made in a very very very short time. So there really isn't much detailed into it.
But it helped me to understand how the flash works and the time line works.

November 3rd

thanks Segev! I don't know what I would have done without Segev
I kinda couldn't find any source of a good flash tutorial today.

I hate internet sometimes.. there are just tooo much information.
I will attach the thing I made today in class somehow

After learning that Atomic learning is horrible, I started to find my own sites to learn flash.
I came up with 3 korean sites...
so if you don't mind having Korean on your screen... open the links

sorry. But I really do.
Atomic learning sucks because

there are so many videos...
and it doesn't help you unless you are looking for a specific problem..
So I watched like 2 videos and quit ... :P

October 25th

It took me a while to download the whole program. I wanted to only select the flash file but I didn't know for sure what to download. So I downloaded the 'whole' thing. :P

My first project will be making things flash and glitter
like http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gUKXfoubkEI

I also found a great tutorial
http://webdevfoundations.net/fireworkscs3/page7.htm

I guess I am ready to flash! hahhah

After coming out of AP computer science.

First, I thought I would understand coding over time. But I came to a conclusion last weekend that that day will never come to me. So here I am in computer application.... :)

coding bat!!!

I don't enjoy coding bat.
but I want the 'feeling' of the new era thing.
SO.
I MUST
AND I WILL.
DO THE PROBLEMS.

Chapter 4 test

1. Find the two problems.

First problem
private ArrayList listOfStudents;
Since our book is the 2nd edition not the 4th, you need to write down the after the ArrayList! why? so the computer knows what type you are storing.

Second problem
When you run 'Admin', John's GPA doesn't stop. So I have to make it stop. It doesn't stop because the loop isn't fully coded.
I knew that it had to do with i++;

int index =0;
while (index
{
System.out.print(seniors.getStudent(index).getName());
System.out.println(""+ " " + seniors.getStudent(index).getGPA());
index++;
And since the i value is index, you write index++;

2. Add a new student to class Admin with 4 courses. Run the class. Does it behave as expected?
yes it Compiled. I thought it would not compile because the two students had three courses. So I thought they would not recognize the fourth course.

seniors.add(new Student("Yejun"));
seniors.getStudent(2).addCourse(new Course ("English",99));
seniors.getStudent(2).addCourse(new Course ("Math",99));
seniors.getStudent(2).addCourse(new Course ("History",99));
seniors.getStudent(2).addCourse(new Course ("Band",100));

3. Implement method setGPA() of class Student. Should this method be private or public? Explain.
I think this should be private because then anyone would access and mess up the GPA.

public void setGPA()
{
int sum=0;
for(int i=0; i<courseList.size(); i++)

sum = sum+ (courseList.get(i).getGrade());

GPA=sum/numberOfCourses;
}

Part 2

4. The toString() method is inherited (from class Object) by class Student (all Java classes inherit from the Object class). What is the output when this method is called on a Student object?

public String toString()
{
String result = "";
for(int i=0; i
{
result = result + courseList.get(i).getCourseTitle() + ", ";
}
return name + ": " + result;
}

5. Create a new field in StudentList named deansList that holds a list of students who are on the Dean's List. ( GPAs of 88 or higher.)

public String deanKids()
{
for(int i=0; i
{
if(listOfStudents.get(i).getGPA() >= 88)
{
deansList += listOfStudents.get(i).getName();
}
}
return deansList;
}

thanks Michael... :P

6. Create a method named printDeansList() that prints the names of students on the Deans List with their GPAs. Each student should be printed on a new line.

printdeansList()
public void printDean()
{
for(int i=0; i
{
if(listOfStudents.get(i).getGPA() >= 88)
{
System.out.println(listOfStudents.get(i).getName() + " " + listOfStudents.get(i).getGPA());
}
}
}

7. Create a method named findTopStudent() that finds the student with the highest GPA and prints..
(example) The top student is Mario with a GPA of 98

findTopStudent()

public void topStudent()
{
for(int i=1; i
{
if(listOfStudents.get(i).getGPA() >= listOfStudents.get(bestStudent).getGPA())
{
bestStudent = i;
}
}
System.out.println(listOfStudents.get(bestStudent));
}
System.out.println(listOfStudents.get(bestStudent));
}

Chapter 3 test

Explain the purpose of class ConvertToCents
You need a class to convert into cents because then you will know how many quarters, dimes, nickels I will need. So like if you have 1.5 cents, the code will give us 1 cent and 2 quarters...(right?)

I... keep on getting this error called

java.lang.NullPointerException
at Transaction.getChange(Transaction.java:32)

Null... I feel like I heard that very very often... .

Chapter 2 question table

Chapter 1 test

Post the code for Box and an image of your pezant in your blog.
2. Write a paragraph to explain what you did in order to create the pezant. In your explanation use each of the terms appearing in the "concept summary" of chapter 21 on page 16. Highlight the terms in the paragraph.
Prologue
I went through a lot of stuff do create the multicolored pezant. To be honest, I knew what I had to do. I knew that I had to create a new class called Box, which had the same code as Square except the parameters, and write the whole pezant code in a new class called 'Picture.' However, I had no idea how to make the arms, legs and the body in my 'Picture' class. Well yes Mr. Daly told me that I can just plagerize the code from the example. But I still didn't fully understand how I could make the codes in my picture class.
Conclusion
From this test, I learned how to create codes to make the pezant.
I also learned exactly what a parameter means.
It's something you can return. lol

But um anyway, the point is that I  DID IT.
I MADE THE PEZANT.

About Coding bat

Remember last time when I told you that I don't understand what the question is asking?
Well don't worry. I understand what they are all talking about.
I understand! yay

And for the most problems, I used the solution button.. because I needed help in the beginning.

So just for myself, I am going to write few stuff I need to remember.

! not
== not same
* times
&&
parameter
|| or

but I don't like coding bat...

3rd class

Today we did CodingBat nearHundred, Makes10, missing Char
Fortunately, I understood Makes10 because the question was really simple and clear.
However, I didn't perfectly understand missing Char, which was about the Kitten and the n value.
I mean, what is a char?
and what does a substring do?
I am so confused with those.

I also have a problem with understanding what the hell the question is asking me to do.
For example,
Given a non-empty string and an int n, return a new string where the char at index n has been removed. The value of n will be a valid index of a char in the original string (i.e. n will be in the range 0..str.length()-1 inclusive).

missingChar("kitten", 1) → "ktten"
missingChar("kitten", 0) → "itten"
missingChar("kitten", 4) → "kittn"

what is a index n?
Well...at least I have a star lol

Java > Warmup-1 chance

Java > Warmup-1 > sumDouble
prev | next | chance

Given two int values, return their sum. Unless the two values are the same, then return double their sum.

sumDouble(1, 2) → 3
sumDouble(3, 2) → 5
sumDouble(2, 2) → 8

what does return their sum?

Chapter 1.1~1.8

Main concepts

  • objects
  • methods
  • classes
  • parameters
1.1 Objects and classes
Object=instance
1.2 Object bench
names of classes are started with capital letters (Circle) and names of objects with lowercase letters (circle1) helps to distinguish
1.3 Calling methods
methods
invoked
called
1.4 Parameters
-
1.5 string type indicates that a section of text is expected
strings are always enclosed within double quotes
1.6 Multiple instances
You change an attribute of an object by calling a method on that object
methods can have any number of parameters
1.7 State
The set of values of all attributes defining an object is also referred to as the objects state
object inspector
1.8 What is in an object?
Objects of the same class all have the same fields
Boolean is a type that can represent two values: true and false

Mr. Daly, I didn't write much because these are things I learned in Green foot
I also wrote down exactly what the book wrote because I wanted to have the perfect meaning...
